Christmas in Sacramento

Christmas day is almost here and Sacramento is doing its best to put on a special holiday cheer. Although the weather has become gloomy, the festive holiday lights are shining brightly and driving away the winter darkness. California’s tall and stately Christmas tree has been put up on the Capitol lawn and is beautifully decorated with ornaments and bright lights. Everywhere there are vivid colorful decorations to mark this holiday season and to remind us of better days to come. There are Christmas carolers singing daily in the Capitol to warm the hearts of even the crustiest legislator and the most cynical reporter. Well, maybe that is going too far but one hopes for the best in this holiday season.

I don’t usually copy an entire newsletter into the blog but I felt Senator Ashburn had several bits of good information. I probably won’t do this in the future, but since I haven’t received anything from him in a very long time, I put it all in here. Historic Election

This election season from the national to the state level has been one for the history books. Regardless of the outcome we can all be proud of how our democracy performed and of how hard all the candidates fought to represent their respective constituents. And now at the end of the campaigns and in the best tradition of our democracy, the candidates will respect the results and wish the winner of the contests the best of luck in fulfilling the oath of their office.
