I am an Emergency Room Physician. I care for undocumented workers who can't document the address where I can send a bill, I care for indigent patients who I never expect to see a penny from, I care for MediCal patients for which I am reimbursed by the state and amount that about covers my expenses. I also see insured patients who bought insurance with the understanding (the writing is clear on my personal policy) that the insurance would not cover 100% of the doctor's charges. It is only the insured and paying patients who provide me with any income at all. Now, I am told that the insurance providers will pay me whatever they want, and I have no recourse. My plan is to start working for an Urgent Care center in our area. I will not see charity cases or MediCal and I will expect the patients to pay their deducable. I suspect that a lot of other ED providers in our state will be doing the same or looking out of state for further employment. I guess the real accomplishment of this regulation will be to make Emergency Rooms hell for the patients. Without doctors willing to work awful hours under awful conditions for much less pay than they are used to, getting care in an Emergency will become next to impossible. Patients may think they will save money under these new regulations, but the non-monetary losses, may make them wish they had been willing to pay.

The 61st district candidate in my party lacked the 35% vote so I was not able to get a state central committee appointment. However, its becoming apparent that I agree more with the blogpen of Calitics.com more than the FlashReport or Red County at times. I may not be a progressive per say, but I would probably be more in line with Larry Walker or Ken White if I did re-register as a Democratic party member.

The state budget crisis has made me take a view that we need some tax increases, but we need to re-organize our state budget in the next fiscal year afterward so we can meet our priorities and keep government stable so California can remain successful.

And Tom Campbell is not likely to win the nomination for Governor of California, maybe switching to vote for Jerry Brown in the primary may be a good idea.

Yes Ralf, there were ESS's and EST's partially responsible for the fall of that wicked witch. Starting her workday at 4:00 PM, running her personal business behind closed doors and allowing her teenage offpring and their friends to use the office with a revolving door policy for use of copiers, fax machines, computers, phones, printers...whatever their hearts desired, whether she was there or not. And as far as racists go......She wins hands down. If you were white.....you were most definately not right. And as far as pathological liars go.....she takes the cake. According to her she has lunched with Oprah, dated one of the Lakers, designed Mayor Bradley's office and held 3 Masters Degrees. I could go on but I am starting to feel my dinner coming up to repeat itself. Thank God they broke the mold with that one I tell ya.

Exactly.

Postmus' "apology" was way too little, way too late. Resignation isn't enough. He should be in prison.

The judges should have to pay the County back for accepting compensation that they know is undeserved. The people are sick of seeing the rich get richer and everyone else eat sh__ and die.

Whoop, there it is. No wonder Lewis has such political clout with different agencies when their engineer is paying people off and not playing by the rules. How sloppy can you get? The FPPC should be having a field day in SBCo. with all the identified violations, even by public officials. It pays though to be a politician like Postmus instead of a private sap like Bertone (part of the family?) cause the FPPC only goes after the easy targets (like Madole and Leggio). Hey, I guess they're both family businesses, if you know what I mean (Mr. DA)?
