More updates

I received an email from Mark Kirk this morning and he is more than willing to meet with us. I’m booked solid for the next two weeks so I’m thinking we’ll try to do something right after the first of the year.

So where do we go from here?

Things will be changing on Monday in San Bernardino County. Supervisor-elect Neil Derry will be sworn in as Third District Supervisor. Gary Ovitt will become Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. I’ve heard various rumors about who will be Vice Chairman and I don’t know what has been decided, although I’m sure by now the backroom deal has been made.

Free admission to Knott’s Berry Farm

Everyone falls under one of these but this has been an annual tradition for TAD workers for a long time:

Veteran’s Tribute:

November 1 - Thanksgiving Day
Knott’s annual tribute to our Military, past and present. Veterans or current serving military personnel plus one guest get in FREE with proper ID presented at Knott’s turnstile (DD214, Veterans Administration Hospital ID or Active Military Service ID). Purchase up to six additional tickets for just $15 each.

Fire and Police Salute:

Thanksgiving Day - December 21, 2008
Knott’s Annual event honoring Fire & Police Personnel. With proper ID presented at Knott’s (employee ID card, paycheck, etc.) fire and police personnel plus one guest can receive free admission. Purchase up to six additional tickets for just $15 each.

County Social Services Tribute

Thanksgiving Day - December 21, 2008
Free Knott’s Theme Park admission for County Welfare, Human and Public Social Services personnel with valid County photo ID or County pay stub and photo I.D. presented at turnstile. Plus one guest free, and up to 6 additional tickets may be purchased for $15 each. Valid November 27 through December 21, 2008.

Toys For Tots

December 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21
Bring a brand new toy valued at $10 or more(not gift wrapped) to donate to Toys for Tots and you’ll receive free admission to Knott’s.

NEW YORK - Against the backdrop of the economic meltdown, a movement is building within the ranks of America’s social workers to make their profession more adept at helping clients overcome financial woes.

Since they emerged on the scene in the late 19th century, social workers traditionally have sought to improve the lot of the poor. But in the contemporary era of rampant foreclosures, credit card debt, and ever-evolving scams that prey on the economically vulnerable, few social work schools offer specialized financial training to their students, leaving them collectively unprepared.

Update on Civil Service hearings

I received notice today that the Civil Service hearing for November has been canceled. Both my request for the hearing on the suspension and the request for a Civil Service investigation into the hostile work environment created by TAD management will be heard on the December 10 calendar.
