Cheated again

I have lived in San Bernardino County for 21 years. During that time we have had scandal after scandal involving the corruption of public officials. A county supervisor and several top county officials have been convicted of bribery. The tax assessor is, apparently, a dope addict and now the district attorney orchestrates a plea bargain with members of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians for straight probation.

Why would the instigators of a murder-for-hire plot get lighter sentences than the gang members they solicited to commit the crime?

That’s the question the San Bernardino County district attorney’s office is having trouble answering these days.
