VICTORVILLE • Residents of Victorville are more likely to become victims of violent crime than residents of Los Angeles, according to a recent study.

Victorville ranked number 152 of 385 cities in the CQ Press “City Crime Rankings 2008-2009,” with New Orleans taking the top spot as most dangerous. Los Angeles was six places below Victorville at 158.

VICTORVILLE • Though Councilman Terry Caldwell recently condemned plans for the city to accept trash for the entire San Bernardino County, officials are perplexed and say his accusations are unfounded.

“The county of San Bernardino has adopted a plan to close the landfills on the other side of Cajon Pass,” said Caldwell, “And the current plan is to locate all of the disposal at the existing landfill site on I-15 — the pyramid.”
