From the PE: Fontana flips fireworks sales back on

Sorry, but I feel this is extremely irresponsible.

Fontana residents will once again be allowed to purchase fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday.

Reversing a decision from only two weeks ago, the Fontana City Council agreed Tuesday night to adopt an ordinance that repeals a ban on the sale of fireworks approved in February 2007. The ban, enacted while citing public safety concerns, would have gone into effect in 2009.

Grateful for support

Now that most of the remaining votes have been counted, and our nation has celebrated Thanksgiving, it is time to reflect on my wonderful experience as the Democratic nominee in the 41st Congressional District.

I am humbled and inspired by the countless unselfish acts of my campaign volunteers, donors, friends, family and voters. My wife and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

FONTANA - In the throes of a bittersweet election night, one councilwoman fielded phone calls from supporters around the region, asking if she was poised to run for Congress.

“I’m going to start praying,” Acquanetta Warren said Friday. “We don’t always get to pick our fights.”

As Warren won re-election to the City Council, Democrat Joe Baca from Rialto soundly defeated her colleague, John Roberts, in the race for the 43rd congressional seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
