Political action committees are formed to raise and spend money on candidates.

They often are created to advance a political agenda or further the interests of businesses or industries.

The PAC in this week’s spotlight is the Committee to Elect Brad Mitzelfelt.

Mitzelfelt represents the 1st District on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. The district includes Hesperia, Adelanto, Victorville, Barstow, Needles and Twentynine Palms.

This political action committee is noteworthy because it gave money to a number of local candidates this election season.

The following is a summary of some of the financial transactions made this year.

Contributions received:

$5,000 from San Manuel Band of Mission Indians

Contributions made:

$1,000 to Doug Shumway, Mojave Water Board Agency

$1,500 to High Desert Young Republicans
