Update

It’s late and I’m tired, so a lot of updates are going into this one post. First and foremost, I have to thank you all once more as we exceeded 10,000 hits today yet again! The good news is we’re getting the word out. The bad news is that I’m received so much email I don’t have time to deal with it all. But I promise to answer you. It just may take a while.

The Professional Unit decertification petition is now online so feel free to download it and collect signatures. Still nothing from CLT although they seem to be going through with the decertification effort. Tomorrow I will make an effort to put up a post with the petitions and the contact information that looks more professional. That requires me to write the HTML manually and my brain hurts too much tonight to do so.

A couple of things I need to make clear. If we don’t get all the signatures we need, as long as you vote down the contract, we can continue to collect signatures until we have enough. So, please do not stop collecting even if the deadline comes and goes without enough signatures. Also, if we’re close, I’m sure we’ll extend the deadline a day or so. And finally, even if we are not successful at all with the decertification we have more options to get you out of the union. I have zero doubt we can make modified agency shop go away so that you can at least stop paying dues to SBPEA. It won’t help with the lousy current contract, but at least you’ll be giving yourselves a $20 a month raise.

AGAIN PLEASE CONTINUE TO COLLECT SIGNATURES UNTIL WE TELL YOU THAT IT WILL NO LONGER DO ANY GOOD. ALSO PLEASE VOTE NO AND GET YOUR CO-WORKERS TO DO THE SAME.

The lies in the message by Al Wozniak on the SBPEA website are to numerous to count. There are several in the first sentence. One of those lies is a few people are urging their coworkers to sign a decertification petition. Urging is unnecessary. All of my co-workers were eager to sign. Actually the use of the word few is a deception. He is trying to give the false impression not many people were unhappy with the offer from the county.

SBPEA put on their website the July county contract ratification results stating total votes cast – 5311 and when one adds up the Yes votes the total is 2573 and adding the No votes gives a total of 2738. Notice, a majority of the total votes SBPEA reports as cast were No votes.

Remember when we voted against the association dues increase at least 200 No proxies were voided? (The association dues increase barely passed). And we only knew about that because after the proxy holders turned in their No proxies, they were given cards to hold up when they voted showing the number of proxies not voided. SBPEA has not told us how many No votes were voided during the July county contract ratification.
