I’m sure by now all of you have heard that the district attorney’s office served a search warrant on the Assessor’s Office. I’m also sure we’re all thinking one of two things: It’s about time or Postmus will skate again.
I’ve read the articles in all four local newspapers. One suggested that it has to do with campaign activities on county time. I can only hope it goes deeper than that. My biggest wish is that it incriminates Brad Mitzelfelt. Depending on what the campaign activity is, that’s a real possibility.
Last year I had the opportunity to speak with someone a couple of times who was in a position where they were being asked to participate in “illegal activities” on behalf of Postmus. That person was so upset that they choose to leave the county rather than do what was being asked. They never told me what they were being asked to do, but they were EXTREMELY distraught over it. I tried to talk them into talking to one of my attorneys, but don’t think they ever did.
When I heard about the Grand Jury investigation a few months back, I hoped that perhaps that person decided to come forward. I still hope that is the case. If the person was being truthful, there would be another shocking result if the investigation is being taking seriously. I can only hope.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe question I pose is this: Can anyone remember back to the days when an investigative reporter actually dug into a story and reported what the real facts were? It seems to me that there is a possible “understanding” between the Sun and Muffer. Why was there such a big court battle over the release of the BOS calendars by County Counsel and why did Muffer’s office just give the name & salary data to the Sun without a fight? Why do the Sun “reporters” accept no comments from the DA’s office and Postmus and let it go at that? I’m almost sure that with a little effort, a journalism major could actually become a reporter and let the community at large know what is going on in this particular case. After all, it is their tax money that is providing salaries and “educational expenses” to these public employees. Of course, this is the same newspaper that made no effort to determine what the cost of Service First training cost those same taxpayers. And did I miss it, or was there never a real investigation into Postmus’giving Erwin a six month severance package after being put on administrative leave by Postmus? And the BOS just approved it without asking any questions? No wonder San Bernardino County is “The Employer of Choice”. At least for those that have the financial resources to buy an elected office.
Let me tell you, I have no faith in reporters whatsoever. Ryan Orr got a slightly snippy email from me this morning. They seem to want us to do all the investigating and hand them the story on a silver platter. One of the new reporters at the DP has a Master’s Degree and was a journalism teacher before becoming a reporter. As we all know, education does not equal common sense.
Postmus has skated. Whether reporters have been bought off or they are just afraid, I don’t know. The big boys of the BIA are ruthless and scary and I say that from personal experience as well as from talking to others in the political arena. When you’ve got people who are afraid they are going to jail just because they speak out against these guys, you know Brad, Bill, Anthony, Bob, et al., have too much power. I go back to the Jeff Wright story. Jerry Eaves cut a deal with a judge to put Jeff away for a year. That judge is still on the bench. Talk about a judge that needs to be recalled!
Anyway, I guess the good part of all of this is that it is happening just before the election. Maybe it will stick in everyone’s mind and they will vote for ABM–Anyone But Mitzelfelt. My choice of course is Rita Vogler. She and Al are normal people just like us.
And for all of you county employees who read the blog, remember this. Additional money is taken from your paycheck by SBPEA each and every payday and given to Mitzelfelt, Biane, Hansberger, Ovitt and Gonzales. They also supported Postmus. How does it feel to be forced to give money to each of them? They only make $100,000+ a year. They need the money you earn more than you do.

THIS ARTICLE ANNOYED ME
Shouldn’t these two be apologizing to the community they serve for not being smart enough to uncover this crap themselves? I am reminded on a regular basis that I am a highly overpaid(haha, lowerlevel, dimwitted County employee however myself and most of my overpaid dimwitted co workers who don’t live in a cave have known that Postmus, Muffer, Adelman, Erwin, Mitzfelt, De La Rosa, are all in the positions that they are due to back room deals. We all knew the service first was “jacked up” when Muffer promoted an imbezzler to Deputy Director. Yet, the paid journalists and editorial staff at the so called Newspaper in town can’t do anything other than accept “no comment” answers from these hacks? Oh wait, isn’t this the same editorial staff that endorsed Postmus and Mitzfelt? I would also like to know how it is that not one employee walking out of the Assessor’s office was able to comment to the press. I am sure they were threatened with their jobs prior to leaving the building. Doesn’t that tell the reporter’s something? The problem is the Sun refuses to take comments from County employees off of the record and refuses to believe anyone who works for the county would lose their job because of of a comment made to the press. The headline above should read:
“RAID CLOUDS COUNTY MANAGEMENT” OR ” RAID CONFIRMS THIS NEWSPAPERS INABILITY TO REPORT COMPETENTLY”
